Traffic an Parking
Traffic and parking are ongoing concerns across Dunkeld and Birnam, affecting safety, accessibility and the overall experience of living in and visiting the area.
Key issues raised by residents include traffic speeds, pedestrian safety, parking availability and the impact of visitor numbers on village streets.
Work is underway with the Dunkeld & Birnam Community Development Trust, residents and Perth & Kinross Council to better understand these pressures and identify practical improvements.

A9 Dualling – Pass of Birnam to the Tay Crossing
The proposed dualling of the A9 between Pass of Birnam and the Tay Crossing is one of the most significant infrastructure projects affecting the area.
This section is particularly sensitive, running through Dunkeld, Birnam and Inver, with important implications for connectivity, the environment and community life.
The Community Council has been closely involved, including submitting a formal objection and ongoing correspondence with Transport Scotland.

Wind Farm Proposals
A number of wind farm developments are being proposed in and around the Dunkeld and Birnam area.
The Community Council supports the transition to renewable energy but also recognises the importance of carefully considering the scale, location and cumulative impact of developments.
Each proposal is assessed on its own merits, with a focus on reflecting community views and ensuring transparent decision-making.

Community Resilience and Flooding
Community resilience focuses on ensuring Dunkeld and Birnam are prepared to respond effectively to incidents such as severe weather, flooding or transport disruption.
Work is currently underway to develop an updated Community Resilience Plan, building on previous work and reflecting current risks and communication methods.
Flooding remains a key concern locally, alongside ongoing work on the Dunkeld Flood Protection Scheme.
